RIDE OPTIONS – what’s open
If you’re not racing, we thank you in advance for being respectful towards our competitors. The Mogo Trails have been been mindfully designed so that an general organised riding or racing event doesn’t shutdown the entire network. For this first race, Rocky Trail is using two main areas and below is an outline of open trails and proposed journeys through the network whilst racing is under way.
We’re racing: 9am-3:30pm Sat 12 and Sun 13 July 2025. Here are your entry & journey options, if you’re RIDING:
From Botanic Garden Trailhead
This area will be very busy as the main event and racing hub is based at the Botanic Garden Trailhead.
If you’re accompanying a family member or friend who is racing, you can still have a ride from this trailhead – below your options:
- Access the trails via Botanology (neutral and main green climb), you’ll get to Botanic Garden Midline – OPEN descents: Sluice Juice (blue) and Cosmic Thunder (green).
- If you keep climbing via Stairway to Haven (neutral) to Ridge Road Junction, you won’t be able to return to the Botanic Garden via the Botanic Garden Summit. You can continue your journey, however, via these OPEN trails:
- Weekend at Bernies (blue climb) then Tinnie Track (black option) or Spitfire (blue)
- If you’re up for a longer ride, descent towards Curtis Road via Devil is the Temptor – you may choose to climb back up via Up to HQ than traverse via Zooniverse towards the Mogo Trig and return to Botanic Garden via the neutral Next Level and Bad Dawg descends.
Note, if you’re choosing to ride via Zooniverse, you’ll also pass the awesome trails on the Eastern/Beach Side of the network, including:
- Big Dog’s Bone via Wombat Soup Junction (return via Mayday Mayday back to Zooniverse, then traverse back to Bot. Garden via Next Level and Bad Dawg)
- Burnt Offerings (return via Jackhammer and/or Mayday Mayday back to Zooniverse, then traverse back to Bot. Garden via Next Level and Bad Dawg)
- Compression Session (return via Jackhammer and/or Mayday Mayday back to Zooniverse, then traverse back to Bot. Garden via Next Level and Bad Dawg)
With the family & kids
An awesome beginner loop or one to do with the family is the Botanology Climb out of the Botanic Garden. Then do the Cosmic Thunder trail which is the perfect trail to catch the riding bug! The beauty of the Botanic Zone is that from the mid-point (top of Botanology), all green, blue and black trails lead back to the main car park. So even if your in a group of riders with different skills, you can do the climb together and each choose the trail that’s for you.
From Curtis Road Trailhead
- Climb via Wild Wombat and descend back via Devil is the Temptor.
- Climb via Wild Wombat and continue across Ridge Road Junction to Weekend at Bernies Climb, choose Tinnie Track or Spitfire then Devil is the Temptor to return.
- Climb via Up to HQ to ride via Zooniverse, and you can explore the awesome trails on the Eastern/Beach Side of the network, including:
- Big Dog’s Bone via Wombat Soup Junction (return via Mayday Mayday back to Zooniverse, then traverse back to Bot. Garden via Next Level and Bad Dawg)
- Burnt Offerings (return via Jackhammer and/or Mayday Mayday back to Zooniverse, then traverse back to Bot. Garden via Next Level and Bad Dawg)
- Compression Session (return via Jackhammer and/or Mayday Mayday back to Zooniverse, then traverse back to Bot. Garden via Next Level and Bad Dawg)
From Mogo Town Trailhead
All trails on the Southern Side of the Mogo Trig area are open, you’re journeys and open trails are:
- Climb up Black Duck then Yowie and Thunder to Mitchells intersection.
- After Yowie you can also give Maureen’s Gold a go, a beautiful trail along the traverse to return to Yowie, then Thunder to Mitchells.
- Return via Lightning and Homerun.
With the family and kids
Do this rewarding journey with kids is from the Mogo Town – there is now an amazing Skills Park right on the top of the “Wall of Mogo”.
- Take The Mogo climb up the wall and if you want to ride straight to the skills area, take the Skills Climb and then you can choose from a green and a blue Skills Run – and they are not just for the little riders. Awesome features that get riders of every age and ambition dial in those lines and a fantasic spot to have a shred as a family.
- You could also ride up to Mitchells Hub via Black Duck and Thunder – head down Lightning and then try the Flipping Pancakes (a favourite with the local kids) which will take you to the start of the skills runs. You can then simply to repeat runs of Skills Climb and Skills Run.
If you want a longer ride, from Mitchells, you could try Moflow or Goflow to the Lower Trig, then climb back up via Low Brou.
Of course a beautiful descent from Mitchells in the other direction towards the Mogo Wildlife Park is down Alice in Wanderaland and climbing back up via Gin Khana.
We wish you an awesome day out on the Mogo Trails, whether you’re riding or racing – please chat to any of our friendly event staff or volunteers if you have any questions!
Cheerio and see you out on the ‘rocky trails’!
